A Winning Team

Mental Health Matters, with its main office located in Bicester, Oxfordshire is a fast-expanding mind wellness consultancy and training company who have just taken an exciting step forward as the business continues to grow via word of mouth reputation, professionalism and a fresh, unique way of approaching workplace mental health.

Mark Warwick is the founder of the Mental Health Matters and is a Veteran from the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC). He has been running the company by himself this past year, but Mark has had to endure frustrating limitations as to what he has been able to achieve in his efforts to grow the business due to the physical and mental disabilities, in particular Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – PTSD that he has suffered as a consequence of his military experiences and business career to date. And unfortunately, both Mark’s physical and mental wellbeing have both been gradually deteriorating over the past few months.

Inspired by Mark’s passion and vision, retired Army Major David Carter who is also ex RLC has now joined the company as the Managing Director to provide additional structure, business acumen and consistency. Mental Health Matters is now at a key phase in its growth due to an increasing number of interested prospects and work commitments coming through. David has come on board to assist Mark in providing the much needed mental health awareness training for businesses in order to combat the time off work that employees have to take due to stress as well as the lack of productivity within the working environment that currently costs UK economy an estimated £75 – £100 Billion.

Having served for almost 20 years as an army officer David then spent over 6 years with a consultancy practice starting in a business manager role before quickly being promoted to a director and management board member with full P&L accountability for a £5 million+ business unit. David is an Associate of the Institute for Independent Business, as well as being a member of the Entrepreneurs Network and for the past 5 years he has been providing leadership consultancy, business advice and communication training for ambitious business owners on how they can maximise their marketing, sales, operations, finances and growth potential using Pareto’s 80:20 Rule.

During his varied career David has experienced, witnessed and has had to deal with at first-hand a wide range of emotional and stressful situations including; extreme poverty, military conflict, hidden alcoholism, attending 3 x back to back funerals, IVF, injury followed by coma, seizure and divorce. These various events and encounters have inspired David to help as many others as possible and naturally he’s now also a qualified Mental Health First Aider.

Founder Mark Warwick said: “David and I had an immediate rapport and bond, due to the military connection, which makes us stronger as a company with more effective communication skills. I am seen as the face of the company and due to my mental and physical injuries I can be at times a little ’too real’ for people, with no ‘PC’ filter so to speak. I accept and take ownership of that, so David is also here to guide me and demonstrate reliability, consistency and our full support to perspective and current clients, ensuring them that we can and will deliver what we promise, meeting all their expectations”

Testimonials

A really interesting and engaging session today, thank you so much for attending. It’s not often that such a session will provide a full action plan for an organisation and some really key areas to address, in order to address Mental Health within the workplace. Highly recommended any organisation having Mark come in and speak to your staff, your managers or your leaders! Thanks again Mark!

– Katy Frith, HR Manager, Havebury

I highly recommend Mark, the depth of his knowledge and the manner in which he openly talks about a subject that affects so many lives is nothing short of inspiring.

– Danny Morgan Tech IOSH, Health, Safety & Facilities Manager

It was a pleasure and an honour to have you in this morning to speak about PTSD Mark, I know the team took away some great insight and learning around this topic. Thank you
