Established in 2001, Aspire runs its own social businesses offering professional facilities management services to local councils, blue-chip corporates, academic institutions and private customers.
University of Buckingham – We have proudly born a relationship with UoB, specifically the Business Enterprise School, sine early 2017 and have welcomed the opportunity to Mentor some students and provide talks and presentations.
Thames Valley Chambers of Commerce – We are proud Members of the Chambers of Commerce and will be providing various Webinars, Talks and Presentations around Workplace Mental Health over the coming year.
Veteran Owned Businesses UK – We are proud Members of the Veteran Owned Business directory and work very closely with them to support military personnel as they transition from the Armed Forces into business and starting up their own companies. Support your Veterans by looking to see at all the products and services provided by the heroes and heroine’s of this great country.
Managing Excellence Through Training (METT) – As a professional and very reputable First Aid training company, that is ran by and employs Veterans, we are extremely pleased to be working in collaboration with and associated to METT. whose services we can highly recommend.
Feel Good Studios – There is a very strong connection between Body/Mind, one that we all believe in and have personally experienced the relief that taking part in regular Yoga and Meditation sessions provides, not only to the mind, but also to physical pain. The wellbeing centre of Feel Good is such a wondrous venue, one that allows you to be at ease, to ground yourself once more and removed from the hustle and bustle of life. Holistic or ‘Alternative’ therapies are becoming more of an essential part of your journey to recovery and can even prevent you from requiring professional intervention in the first place.
First Step Forward – This is where we at Mental Health Matters, fulfil our secondary vision, of providing mental health training and support to University Students, those with Micro Businesses and Veterans starting into Business. Currently the work is subsidised through ourselves and those who wish to support our work financially, however, it is our aim to launch FSF as a Community Interest Company (CIC) so that we are able to apply for the various funding and grants available within this particular area. All interests would be welcomed.
Armed Forces Covenant – Mental Health Matters is a proud member of the Armed Forces Covenant and as our founder is a Veteran themselves, we are dedicated to providing freelance work and employment to other Veterans where possible. It is our intention to be providing work to ten veterans by year three and employing up to ten by year five. Also through FSF, we are determined to provide the mental health awareness, training and support to all the military personnel who are leaving the armed forces and transitioning into starting their own business.
Bike Tours For The Wounded – This is our sponsored Charity for the year and they support Military personnel that have been subjected to life changing wounds, injuries or sickness due to their service. Each year Bike Tours For The Wounded strives to provide the opportunity for 52 servicemen, servicewomen and veterans to be taken on a motorcycle tour of Route 66 or an amazing tour of the Wild West as a pillion. These tours can be both mentally and physically challenging, yet have been proven to be extremely beneficial to those who have taken part whilst at varying stages of their rehabilitation process. Their resulting experiences are nothing short of life changing and provides the individual with a new sense of purpose, clarity and reward for those who have been battling for some time, like our founder Mark Warwick. Showing life is certainly worth living.
They recently offered Mark the opportunity to accompany them on an upcoming tour of Route 66 in America for 10 days, as a pillion passenger on the back of a Harley Davidson. A great opportunity, but also another huge challenge for him, as it involves sitting on the bike for ten hours a day to cover the distances involved. The past two years has seen Mark fight back from suicide, severe PTSD and depression, being in Rehabilitation with Combat Stress and receiving little or no further professional support. Therefore, this is so much more than an opportunity, it is life changing and a major milestone for him.
